“The latest episode about “how my healthy diet made me sick” led me to unsubscribe immediately. As a registered dietitian I was appalled by many parts of this episode. Firstly, it was Maria’s extremely poor diet that tipped her into poor gut health territory resulting in gluten intolerance, not the “healthy whole wheat and whole grains” that did it. The title of this episode is very misleading as even the diet consisting of whole grains was not truly “healthy” as there were too many snacks of processed food (whole wheat pretzels, crackers and cookies are not “healthy”) and still not at all nutritionally balanced. Then there was the part bashing dietitians as being “sponsored “ by larger corporations including the wheat industry. Yes, there may be a VERY small percentage of dietitians out receiving continuing educations from these companies, but MOST do not. I am very offended that someone with a “certificate” in nutrition (6 months -1 year to obtain) would think they have a right to give out such advice while degrading registered dietitians (we have 5-7 years of education) while doing so. Shame on you.”
