We're headed WAY back in time to Ancient Egypt to discuss the life and death of the most famous Egyptian pharaoh, King Tutankhamen. What we're really doing hanging out with the major players in the 18th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt is because of the alleged Mummy's Curse. In the 1920s when...

We see Christmas as cheery and joyful due, at least in part, to the jolly fella in the red and white suite who commits a little light b-and-e to leave us gifts each year.
But legend has it that Santa’s evil twin might be hitching a ride in that sleigh, spreading not cheer but leaving behind sticks and committing battery each year.
In this year’s Christmas special, we’re talking about the evil Santa Claus that lurks around Europe’s alpine region. Krampus is commin’ to town, and might just be...

This week we’re dick-tecting the haunted Sloss Furnace, and sharing stories about which ghosts you might run into if you head to Birmingham, Alabama for a visit. We’re happy to report that bad travel reviews are back and we have some...

Harry Houdini is probably the most famous illusionist and escape artist in history. He could escape from pretty much everything—handcuffs, boxes, jail cells, the belly of the Loch Ness Monster—you name it.
But he wasn't exactly the best at making friends and influencing people. He was dead-set against anything having to do with spirituality and wrote a ton of what we assume were self-published books throwing shade at the who's-who of the magic world.
So, when he suddenly died of what...

Between May 1918 and October 1919, the Axeman of New Orleans terrorized the Italian grocer population in New Orleans, Louisiana. While he had less than a 50 percent kill rate (not exceptional for a serial killer, definitely not one with personal connections to "His Satanic Majesty, Francis Josef, etc.") he made quite an impact on the city that STILL insists on jazzing it out between March 13 and 15th every year, to avoid incurring the wrath of the Axeman.

At 9:20 PM on December 29, 1972, Eastern Air Flight 401 took off from New York’s JFK with 163 passengers and 13 crew members on board. The flight went well that evening and at 11:30 PM, as the plane started its descent, Captain Bob Loft came over the speaker to welcome passengers to Miami. Twelve minutes later at 11:42 PM, the plane crashed into the Everglades at 225 miles per hour.
But the crash isn’t infamous because it was so big, it’s because the ghosts of Flight 401 lived on long after...
