Finally understand what’s going on with my body after 15 years of birth control.
Hello my name is Katie, When I was 14 years old I got my first period then I didn’t see it again until almost a year later. With this I was put on birth control to “regulate” my cycles. Never thought anything of it and was told through school that if you weren’t on birth control you would get pregnant so I remained on birth control for 15 years. I met my husband in 2014 and we were married in 2017. He has always wanted to be a dad and I was always scared and pushed back the timeline for this due to going to nursing school and moving to a new state. In 2022 we moved to Montana to pursue a business with my father in law which has been nothing short of amazing. With this there was nothing left holding us back from starting a family as I was 28 at the time. I also at this time started becoming more aware of what birth control actually does to your body and became sick with the fact of how long I had been on the pill. So I stopped it March 2023 and was so happy. I didn’t initially get my period back and I was coming about every other month. We didn’t start trying until sept 2023. Unfortunately this was the last time I recorded ovulation with OPKs. I didn’t get another period until Jan 2024. This is when I knew I needed to get a doctor involved. At this time I randomly searched pcos on my podcast app and this is where Dr. Danielle came into my life. I learned so much about women’s hormones and how they are suppose to work as well as education on Pcos. My little sister has pcos so it made me also worried that due to my lack of menstruation and long cycles that was the case for me as well. I went to my pcp and she told me I’m not ovulating based on my charting and ended up putting me on Metformin. I pushed to get labs done and so far I can assume I have high DHEA-S but all other labs look pretty normal. I also got an ultrasound done and they said based on the numerous small cysts that I now was diagnosed with pcos. Dr.Danielle gave me the knowledge to know to interpret what was going on. After implementing strength training, supplementation and watching things I eat I ovulated on my own March 2024 and couldn’t be happier. We tried to conceive and unfortunately it did not happen but I did get a menstruation 12 days later with a 75 day cycle. We now are in April 2024 and I am working on lifestyle and the things I’ve learned from this podcast and would LOVE to win a consultation with Dr. Danielle to help me on the road to conceiving. I also have a fertility specialist consult coming in June and I so badly want to prove that I can conceive on my own without medication. I’m praying that I get picked and cannot wait to hear from you Dr. Danielle!

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for almost 2 years now. I got off BC assuming we’d get pregnant right away but little did we know that wasn’t going to happen. After nearly a year and a half without a period, a few months ago I got diagnosed with PCOS, and came across Danielle’s...Read full review »
