Sweets hidden as Vegetables
Each time a new episode of this podcast is posted, I pause for a moment before diving in. Each episode is about an hour long, and this will be the calmest description of MMA that you've ever experienced. Connor and Patrick treat this as an academic excursion and the varying volumes and intensities that occur in most descriptions of MMA to indicate the listener's appropriate level of excitement, are gone. Instead, each episode is a thorough deconstruction of just one aspect of MMA. Each week I see the title and think to myself "I already know about how good Ronda Rousey is in transition" or something to that effect, and yet when I dive in, the amount of knowledge and research that has been put into the topic far exceeds my initial assumptions, to the point that an entirely new level has been brought to my understanding of the sport. If you're on the fence, listen to just one episode and then watch an event. Your eyes will be noticing what was talked about in the episode and your understanding of the game will increase immensely.Read full review »

More reviews of Heavy Hands
This is one of the few fight shows that cares more about what happens in the cage or ring, than outside of it.

These guys dissect MMA in a technical manner that is still well-designed and simple enough to appeal to the casual fan (like me) who knows very little about the ins-and-outs of martial arts
