Sweets hidden as Vegetables
Each time a new episode of this podcast is posted, I pause for a moment before diving in. Each episode is about an hour long, and this will be the calmest description of MMA that you've ever experienced. Connor and Patrick treat this as an academic excursion and the varying volumes and intensities that occur in most descriptions of MMA to indicate the listener's appropriate level of excitement, are gone. Instead, each episode is a thorough deconstruction of just one aspect of MMA. Each week I see the title and think to myself "I already know about how good Ronda Rousey is in transition" or something to that effect, and yet when I dive in, the amount of knowledge and research that has been put into the topic far exceeds my initial assumptions, to the point that an entirely new level has been brought to my understanding of the sport. If you're on the fence, listen to just one episode and then watch an event. Your eyes will be noticing what was talked about in the episode and your understanding of the game will increase immensely.Read full review »

Discovered this podcast through the Bad Left Hook website. Really enjoy the analysis of striking without any of the usual politics.

Wonderful insight into the nuances of technique and fighting philosophy. I don't share Pat or Connors sense of humour but it's not irritating and well worth the listen.Read full review »
