“I greatly enjoy the podcast. Murray’s analytical insights are excellent. There’s no better podcast focused on Irish rugby.
Please take this criticism as constructive: the opening and closing voice montages include the phrase “If you’re an accountant and lose your job nobody really notices”. It’s Eddie O’Sullivan’s voice I believe.
I’d like you to think about that for a second - consider this particular year even when so many have lost jobs. I lost my own professional job last year; all throughout I’ve listened to your show. Every time I hear this my skin crawls. Consider if you just lost your job and you heard this? How would you react?
First - it’s not true - yourself, your family, your friends definitely notice if you lose a job. And it can be life altering. Second, the flippancy is repugnant - losing a job can be a mental health disaster for those impacted.
Please, please consider a different and better opening sequence. Use Murray or Gavin or anyone else. Just not this. It’s hurtful to hear, and I think many who have actually suffered the pain of losing a job (but obviously not Eddie) react viscerally in the same way I do.”
