“Here are some excerpts from an email I felt compelled to write to Maria on how her interview with Eileen Fisher impacted me:
Fast forward a bit, and I've been working in engineering, which is a very exciting time for women right now. We are finally filling our young staff positions with women, the young women in power are starting to have babies, we are slowly making our presence known. Unfortunately, we have no where to shop that is affordable, fashionable, unique, durable, functional, chic, and stylish. We have no where to shop that creates a young women's working "uniform" of similar professional level as the dress shirt and slacks for me. Our clothing styles are constantly defined by men - "menswear for women", "boyfriend jeans", "boyfriend blazer", "boyfriend cardigan". The professional look for women is based wholly on the man's uniform, or what a man wants to see. I'm trying to change that. I started sewing about 6 months ago and am making my own designs, showcased on Instagram (@stirbabyy).
Your interview with Eileen resonated with me so deeply. I've been feeling so stuck. But like Eileen - I am starting to see the way forward. I see so vividly what I want to create, it feels so tangible! And I want it so badly but it's terrifying to walk away from what I have now and to believe in myself. But every question you asked and her answers I just felt like that could have been me and you having the same interview in 10 years. I am so inspired now. Thank you for giving me this gift. Your interview was exactly what I needed to hear at a time when I needed it most. Even as I write this email, I don't feel like my emotions and gratitude are coming through as fully as I want them to. When you feel so alone, and your dream feels so far away, it is truly magical to hear from someone who seems to understand you. I just wanted to reach out and say thank you.

“Most of my heroes are women and it’s refreshing to finally hear about heroic journeys from a female perspective. Maria guides the narrative with curiosity and brings the stories of these heroic superwomen to life. Roz Savage is such a courageous, authentic, inspiring woman and I love that the...”Read full review »
