“I was excited to try this podcast, being a lover of history and pop culture icons. Unfortunately, this podcast is ill-conceived in it's execution. I'll get straight to the point: the two narrator format doesn't work for this type of subject matter. Their tone and inflection is grating and uneven. They are not in sync with one another and their attempt to make jokes and or ad-lib falls flat.
To make matters worse, the voice acting is horrible!! So much so that it distracts from the narratives. Cringe worthy, choppy and forced accents by these so-called voice performers is borderline embarrassing.
In my opinion, a podcast like this needs one narrator with a strong, resonant voice and NO voice actors. The Marilyn Monroe episode was tolerable but I could barely finish the one on Rasputin. 10 minutes into the Franz Ferdinand episode I unsubscribed.
I'd consider returning if the format and execution changed. For now, I wouldn't recommend it, unless you are someone who isn't well read on history trailblazers.”Read full review »
