Sorry guys. But this is bad.
I really wanted to like this. I did. This is a fun sounding podcast on interesting subjects that consists of a panel reading different essays with lots of back and forth discussions. The panel consists of several knowledgeable folks, and one guy who, for some reason unknown, chooses to affect an awful southern accent and calls himself the Colonel. His job is apparently comic relief, which on this podcast consists of telling terrible jokes and then telling stories which invariably end in outright lies that are supposed to be funny. Ultimately, its the jokes that buy this thing a single star. For whatever reason, the panel chooses to repeatedly interrupt each other with "humorous" interjections. For example, during the episode about freak shows, we are told that two midgets were married and went on a honeymoon. One person jumps in with "Did they ship FedEx?" HA! I know, right? Or when we are told that there are only a few remaining freak shows in the US, the Colonel interjects in his terrible drawl "And we call these Wal-Marts." WHOA NELLY! I'm sure when its a bunch of history dweebs sitting around a table, they're hilarious. But they make listening unbearable. Maybe I'm missing the humor. But I don't think so.Read full review »

This podcast has personality and charisma. The chemistry between the hosts is hilarious, and the Colonel is especially great. So many times I have found myself hysterical listening (every time the Colonel discusses Ted Cruz I am in stitches!) Give this podcast a listen, well worth it.
