Gary Stevens approaches the Bible in all of its guises from a historical perspective. His podcast focuses on two topics: the history of texts and the historicity of the contents of those texts. These podcasts are very useful if you want to understand the context of a particular Bible-text (although there is no easy way to find the right episode). Stevens has put a lot of work in. I guess he writes an episode down, then reads it to us. But he really is an excellent narrator. Good storytelling. So why 2 stars? There are always going to be differing opinions among scholars. Stevens picks a side and presents it as the only viewpoint. Whether one is religious or not, it is much easier to understand many Western societies if you understand the Bible.
