Great podcast, worth listening to
I've always found Japan an enigma. There is so much history and culture that it's hard to find an accessible starting point to begin learning. This is where this podcast shines... the structure is easy to follow and the subjects are interesting. Isaac explains enough of the basics to make the material accessible for someone who knows very little, but avoids repeating himself so you don't feel like you're rehashing the same point. He has avoided the trap of narrating in a repetitive "and then this happened and then that happened..." manner that some history podcasts can fall into. Yes, the audio could be improved. It does at times sound like it's a series of audio snippets pieced together. Hopefully this will improve in later episodes. If you find this too distracting then it may not be the podcast for you. It doesn't bother me as the content makes up for it. Isaac - I am very grateful for passionate people like you taking the time to share your knowledge and interest. Well done and keep it up.Read full review »
