The future of lecturing?
Working my way through these ahead of a module on Vision in Literature and finding a lot of cross-over topics as well as some excellent background information on photography and its pioneers. I'll be very surprised if I don't find myself referncing these podcasts at some point during the next semester. Despite having lectured on the topic for around 27 years Jeff Curto, in comparison with some lecturers I've encountered, is certainly not stuck in his ways with regards to embracing this technology. I just wish more universities would catch up with him. Especially at a time when every learning institution is so hard pressed for money and looking for ways to save on costs or generate revenue. BTW for anyone wondering how on earth an audio podcast can cover a visual art the slides used in the lectures accompany the audio- something I hadn't even realised was possible! I would like to offer what I hope will be some constructive feedback regarding the podcasts with regards to the audience participation aspect. As these are recordings of actual university lectures/seminars the students present are encouraged to ask questions which I often find are either very hard to hear or just completely indecipherable to me. To his end I would find useful if, for the benefit of his iTunes audience, the lecturer could repeat the question asked prior to answering. Minor quibble about a quality podcast.Read full review »

Jeff Curto is a pioneer in educational broadcasting. In due course the name "podcast" and the underlying technology will no doubt become passé, but niche broadcasting to small, specialised audiences is here to stay and Jeff's contribution within that is significant. Put simply, no...Read full review »

My only wish is that I would like to see the pictures your discussing with the class. I've seen podcasts change the "Cover Photo" during the show. And sometimes I can't hear the questions students are asking.Read full review »
