Lost legacies.
The mess that is Africa is no accident. It is a product of centuries of interference and manipulation both from within and outside the great continent. Nowhere else are these words so visibly manifesting…“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” The emerging generation are calling for de-colonisation ina hope to fix things, which seems like a sound idea, but it’s naive and said in ignorance of the long and complicated history of the continent. Turning back the clock is a great populist rally cry, but no one can say what date to set it back to. There is no where on this planet, where there were people, that colonisation hasn’t been a significant agent for change. What this series will hopefully do is tell the factual story of our region without pandering to political and populist narratives, so that the emerging generations can look back and objectively sort out what they need to ensure is never repeated vs what was truly beneficial and needs infusing into the their evolving culture.
