Very well done
Very accessible, great delivery after the first few episodes, when it was a bit 'stiffer', but still very complete. After these the podcaster has hit her stride, she really seems to enjoy this, and it makes it better. The shows are well researched, presented in an organized and well ordered manner. Far from being a 'dry' expose of the horrors of the middle ages, this podcast is enjoyable and entertaining. It is also well balanced: Sharyn presents all the important actors of the crusades, not just the european ones, giving the all-important historical context necessary to understand what happened and why. I heard there were negative reviews on the US iTunes, but honestly anyone truly interested in history will understand that humans have done horrible things to each other since forever, the crusades are just another extreme example! This podcast has a decidedly anti-Christian tone. It is filled with revisionist history and pc myths, attempting to portray the Christians as greedy invaders attacking peaceful Muslim nations. This podcast is very well done. The narrator, Sharyn, is very enjoyable to listen to. She deserves to be recognized as as one of the more interesting history podcasters. (This coming from an avid fan of the History of Rome podcast).
