Great history podcast
This podcast is a worthy addition to the Mike Duncan and David Crowther family of history podcasts. Additionally, Dirk employs a bold and nuanced approach to this narrative - he admits and embraces the fact that the subject matter of German history itself has a difficult history, having been used for various political propaganda campaigns, most notoriously in the twentieth century. Nonetheless, Dirk’s narrative tries to practice a disciplined historiography by abound what C.S. Lewis and David Crowther call “chronological snobbery”, and instead of endeavors to understand the past on its own terms and in its own context. It is a surprisingly excellent podcast, an excellent addition to growing tapestry of anglophone historical podcasts.

More reviews of History of the Germans
Dirk does a great job at laying out the narrative in a coherent way that is also easy to listen to. The fact that he is actually German gives it an extra bit of authenticity similar to the History of England.

Have listened to a number of history podcasts. This is one of my favourites - pithy sense of humour , excellent links between events and what they meant in the wider context. Highly recommend.
