Just what the Doctor ordered
It’s like someone plonked a German chap down in the UK, whereupon he watched a lot of Monty Python, got a sense of humor, and started thinking about life, the universe, and the history of the Germans. A few examples: “after a spot of gentle plundering and other ways of spreading the Pax Romana...” or “The Romans refused to integrate the German warriors. Must be something about the lack of sense of humor” or “The problem was that in the ninth century you could not just identify as sea monster and then become king” It’s the perfect antidote to 2021 — give it a try; you’ll be informed and entertained

More reviews of History of the Germans
Absolutely interesting both in terms of the detail provided and the broad perspectives it manages to convey. Extremely well narrated. We are only at the year 1100 at episode 100 and I very much hope the pace remains slow so that there are many more episodes to come.

An excellent podcast - full of historical information and enough dry humor to keep you entertained. If you enjoy history, this is worth your while!

Such a great show. I am a lover of German history so I would probably find this podcast great anyway but the host is a wealth of information presented in an engaging way. Funny and ironic without being cheesy.
