A rarified joy
I have rarified interests and one of those is papal history. It isn't an interest I get to discuss much, so I was thrilled when (via the history of England podcast) I discovered Stephen's work. I find its steady, almost meticulous pace to be quite compelling, and Mr. Guerra is thorough enough to inspire me to broaden my own lines of inquiry. I love the fact that he will take characters with no primary source documentation- such as Linus -and fill in the blanks with detailed study of the places and times in which the subject lived. I hope he spends plenty of time on the transition from the apostolic era to the "established" church. I can't get enough! Bravo!!Read full review »

I have been listening since the beginning of the podcast and I continue to be impressed with the depth Steven goes into which in episode yet it is understandable and clear. I continually learn something new with each show.

Stephen's show on the Pope's of Rome and the early church is a refreshing and well researched treat. What could have been a slog in covering the council of Nicaea was done in a way that kept me waiting for the next instalment.Read full review »
