I’ve listened to countless hours of this podcast, and it’s been wonderful while digging some egress windows! :)

Prof Greg spins great stories out of real history. And his theme music is great, too.

I had been listening to the same podcasts for a while, and because I’ve been really getting into history more and more, I decided to look for a history podcast. This podcast has scratched an itch I didn’t know I had. History is reviewed in the juicy, interesting and exciting story format it was...Read full review »

Found this about a year ago and I couldn’t be any happier. Professor Jackson and his staff are simple great. The research is top notch and they make history come alive. I wept a couple of times listening to their podcast. So informative with US history. Thank you so much for all you do!!!

An exciting and modern method to explain history. Don’t take my word for it… listen for yourself!

This podcast is a very interesting summary of American history. What really has made me stop listening are the sound effects, the terrible accents, and not translating the French. The sound effects are so much louder than the narrator. Occasionally they overlap so you can’t hear what he’s...Read full review »

Not bad for a millennial educated in public schools but i still hate millennial speak. Its lazy and could not hold a candle to a 7th grade education using the New England Primer pre 1860. Thank you progressive democrats for producing a stupid electorate.

Despite the advertisement that says there are many Apple episodes available to binge. Listen, I have found that most have been “temporarily unavailable“ for at least a week. This show is OFF THE HOOK! 😂…One of our more astute friends in Taco (War And Peace - A Civil War themed game) turned us on to this gem and we all fell in love with it. I’m telling you, if you remotely like History you will be sucked in immediately. Woods in VA

This is one of my favorite shows along with American scandal and American history tellers. I love history and I love these stories because they are very relatable. I have been binge listening for the last several weeks. I cannot believe I have gotten through all the podcasts up-to-date. I enjoy the way professor Greg lays out the story. But sometimes horrible editing. There have been numerous episodes where audio skips like an early 2000s Discman with anti -skip technology and I’m left trying to fill in what was being said. Other than that, great stories and very informative.

I like this pod a lot because of the great content but I can't listen to much of it bc of the bad music bed - and that it's too loud and sometimes has weird sound effects. Not sure why the music bed is even necessary.Read full review »

I needed a history podcast and this hit the spot. I have a few audible books on American history and they are good but they just don’t have they same feel as this. The research and delivery are great! I’ll be caught up in no time.

I started on episode 40 and I kept listening because Greg is such a good storyteller. I love the use of sound effects when he is describing the intense Civil War battles. He makes History fun for history nerds like me. I like it so much I joined HistoryThatDoesn’tSuck’s Patreon.

I’ve never had a huge interest in American history — probably because of how it tends to be taught and presented. But this show is good — I love how it is narrated, and the subjects chosen! Greg Jackson does a great job telling history as a story and not a lecture. He provides a comprehensive background, setting the stage for a clear understanding of history as it should be told. Great work not only by Jackson but by his researchers and writers.

Please stop doing accents; you are great at presenting a historical podcast but your accents are horrible and take away from the story.

It’s hard to overstate the importance of this program. The effort used to honestly include the tragic and uncomfortable conduct, without grandstanding, of those in power at the time is both an appropriate and a needed supplement to my earlier days in school. Good work, Professor!

Great series but I’m so ready for them to move on from the military aspects of World War I. You’ve been on this topic for the better half of 2023. I’m excited for what you move on to next! Great research and compelling storytelling, it’s just becoming redundant month after month.

Love the order of each episode.
