This presenation accompanies the audio podcast, also posted in iTunes, for Robert Poe Jr. presents Rebuilding Power in Puerto Rico, Hurricane Maria, PREPA, and the Future of Puerto Rico. At the event, Robert Poe Jr offers a firsthand account about what happened in Puerto Rico when Hurricane Maria struck with over 165 mph winds. The problems of competency concerning PREPA (Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority), his current consulting relationship with PREPA, and an analysis of what is needed to rebuild in Puerto Rico will be addressed.
Robert Poe Jr. teaches in the Department of Management and Marketing, CBPP at UAA. He has held numerous government positions in Alaska, which include Executive Director of AIDEA and the Alaska Energy Authority and President and CEO of the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC). As of March 2018, he and his wife have a second home in Vieques, Puerto Rico which he often visits.
