“4/16/23 UPDATE: I've said it before and I'll say it yet again: what good is a podcast if I can't hear it? This is my go-to Phillies podcast. Host John Stolnis' analysis and (nearly) relentless optimism about the team is always appreciated. I can't say the same of Justin Klugh or Liz Roscher NOR CAN I HEAR WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY. I understand this is a podcast without a big budget but seriously, I'm deleting the latest episode (#653) because the sound quality is absolute garbage. I don't want to have to ratchet up my earbuds/speaker, etc. just to hear casual conversation, then have to rush to turn it down when Justin's laughter blows my eardrums out.
8/22/22 UPDATE: Hearing all three hosts is still an issue. Sometimes sounds like John steps into an other room or distances himself from his mic. Sometimes the volume of the hosts' voices rising up and down is frustrating enough to make me quit listening to an episode.
7/27/22 UPDATE: Now I hear Justin and Liz better than I hear John and, man, I wish they'd get their sound issues figured out.
I enjoy their main podcast, "Hittin' Season," which John Stolnis hosts -- often solo but sometimes with Liz Roscher and Justin Klugh. I like John's insight and take on the Phillies' games and their organization as a whole, and he obviously loves the team (which I also find engaging). Their other two podcasts though, "Continued Success" and "The Dirty Inning," I almost always skip them. I'm more interested in Continued Success because they talk current MLB and Phillies news. The Dirty Inning...I'm just not that into ancient Phillies history and don't much care what the team was doing 50 or 60 years ago, etc. But my biggest complaint: Justin, it doesn't matter what you have to say IF I CAN'T HEAR YOU. I don't know if it's his mic, recording equipment or what... But the main reason I bail on the podcasts with just Liz and Justin is because I have to crank up the volume in order to hear anything that Justin is saying, and then my eardrums get blown out when Liz starts talking.”Read full review »
