“Saw some reviews beginning Toledo or whoever's in charge of the podcast to fix the missing sound issue.
They can't "fix" this, because this isn't a technical issue; they don't have the rebroadcasting rights to do so. Broadcasting rights might just be the most insanely complicated process ever, and it's doubly so when you factor in that the permission/rights you've gotten from the content owner to broadcast their IP live over the radio does not transfer over to the internet, and rebroadcasting their property via the internet on a podcast without coming to a new agreement opens Hubbard Broadcasting up to excessive fines and lawsuits.
So it was either dedicate a ton of time, money, effort to pay for and acquire the rights to distribute copyrighted material like songs and background music over the internet, or just strip them all from the podcast and spare themselves the work and potential litigation.
This definitely kills the entire feel/vibe of the show, though, and the podcast suffers greatly because of it. It's why I've taken to just recording the live stream as it airs and listening to that instead of the podcast, which comes with the added bonus of not missing segments, or having to wait on an intern to cut the best clips and upload them, which sometimes takes days.
