“Such a great programme i will really miss my daily history lesson. Such a personal extract in to the everyday lives of folk, it really helped me appreciate the pain that so many wife’s and mothers felt as their husbands and sons who went to war and never returned. It has educated me and made me reflect on a war which till I listening to the show I never really fully understood the sacrifice so many made. World war 2 was the only subject matter that I was taught at school but only from the political aspects not the personal effect of war. Thank you bbc please follow this series up with a similar programme to educate us on what happens following the end of the war. The return of many broken solders and the hope of the people that this war would end all wars. The mistakes that led to a Second World War so soon after the end of the first. 👍🤔”
