An amazing achievement, taken as a whole. Rich with historical content, character development and fascinating stories true to the World War I era. Listen in order to follow the life stories of the many characters and enjoy!

Do yourself a favor and just listen to this radio drama. The sound production values are as high as they get and it’s filled with great very expressive voice actors.

I have very much enjoyed listening to Home Front over the last four years. The acting and writing are both of a very high standard and the idea of following characters through such an interesting period of history has been both entertaining and educational. I am missing it already!

Thank you for a wonderful piece of radio that I’ve listened to since episode 1. I will miss the characters especially Adam Wilson played by Billy Kennedy and before that Leo Montague. A superb insight into life in the First World War and the Social changes happening at that time.

A wonderful ‘eye’ into the past, a time we shouldn’t forget. The broadcast made the time feel real and the characters so believable, I loved it! Why not do a similarl thing set in WW11 ?

Have listened since day once and sobbed my eyes out during “A Fragile Peace”. Please listen to this from start to finish! So addictive, compelling and beautifully written with stories and characters you cannot help but form relationships with.

I have enjoyed every episode of Home Front and have dreaded the 11th November 2018, knowing that would be the end of a wonderful, historic and warm drama. But what a way to go out and with the lovely soothing voice of Florrie. Thank you for Home Front, I will miss you dear friend

Such a great programme i will really miss my daily history lesson. Such a personal extract in to the everyday lives of folk, it really helped me appreciate the pain that so many wife’s and mothers felt as their husbands and sons who went to war and never returned. It has educated me and made me...Read full review »

Please don’t end Home Front! I’m going to miss those characters so much. I’m sure you could carry it on until it’s 100 years from the Second World War. We need to know how the social changes following the First World War affect all the families and how they deal with a return to war after only 20...Read full review »

Stop cutting off your nose to spite your face BBC programme decision makers. This is an educational broadcast disguised as a drama. Exactly the same template in which The Archers was originally marketed. Homefront is highly successful and popular with as many podcast subscribers as The Archers....Read full review »

As the end draws near I hope the production team are considering how to keep alive this concept of looking at world events from those who lived and survived on the periphery of the main stage. Fascinating and informative in equal parts. I will miss these characters immensely. Well done BBC.

What will I do when this series ends later this year? I haven’t missed a single episode - it’s taught me so much about life at home during World War One, particularly relating to the roles of women and the appalling treatment of conscientious objectors. I have been listening since 2014 and have been constantly amazed by the diversity of social issues raised by the series not to mention the sometimes melodramatic situations that the characters find themselves in. My hope is that the armistice In November will not see the end of the series as all...Read full review »

This is one of the joys of the day. The episodes are so well written that you become engrossed in the characters. The setting is excellent and never once do I doubt that they are not from 100 years ago.

Compelling, informative drama that tackles some of the big issues in WW1. Characters are believable and the story lines are excellent. I love it!

Being a short drama, this can seem like a soap opera at times but if listened to from the beginning of the war, a flavour of what it might have been like during World War 1 for those still at home could be had. (The excellent Tommies gives an idea what it was like at the front.) But it can only...Read full review »

Having listened to every episode since the beginning I cannot fault the various storylines throughout and superb acting. All based on the First World War events and the trials and tribulations of the main character Kitty Wilson/Lumley her family and contemporary society.

Compulsive lisening - the best thing to come out of the BBC since the Great war itself. Inter woven story lines that use general facts from the time combined with ‘real’ character storiers.
