“First off, Gimlet did not pay to get these podcasts on the top of the charts. Gimlet had a wide following, and they do an excellent job of promoting their new podcasts. So when they release trailers and promote them on all of their existing podcasts, they get a large influx of subscribers which bumps the podcasts up the charts, even when episodes haven't been released yet. *rant over
Now that we've got that out of the way, this show is intriguing as hell so far. After listening to the first installment, I am completely hooked. This is a scripted series unlike anything Gimlet has previously done. It's very atmospheric, wonderful voice acting, and surprisingly enough, does a great job of showing rather than telling, which is quite a feat for an audio medium. Do yourselves a favor and give this one a chance because it shows a lot of promise.”Read full review »
