On our 149th show we're going to back to 1980 to focus on a satirical horror starring Rory Calhoun and Nancy Parsons.    This film made the cover of Fangoria #9.  Ebert liked it much more than my crew did.  What's all that strange noise coming from inside Vincent's secret garden? On our 147th show we are once again paying homage to a recently lost treasure.  We lost Roger Corman at the age of 98.  The amount of talent that was realised through his projects is innumerable .  The man was a Hollywood Kingmaker.  Nobody could make a film as quick and as cheap as Roger Corman yet he still produced solid, entertaining films.  We hope you enjoy as we give the Horror 101 Treatment to Corman's classic The Masque of the Red Death from 1964, starring Vincent Price.  Show...

Welcome Horror 101 Listeners!  We have another podcast for you.  This time we're going back to 1980 and reaching into the Nasty Bag for another Italian Splatterfest.  Two episodes back we had such a good time covering Zombie from 1979, we decided to focus on another Fulci classic.  This would be the first of his Gates of Hell Trilogy.  Starring Catriona MacColl and Christopher George, this movie breaks all the rules and gives you a demented acid trip of demonic mayhem with supernatural...

Greetings Horror Fans!  For our 145th episode we're spotlighting a new Australian film from the Cairnes Bros.  This is an excellent example of independent horror being done correct.  This movie has masterful performances and an authentic retro 70s style that delivers a tense and fascinating faux reality experience.  We cannot remember another film that made us want to press play on it again right away.  We hope you enjoy our Horror 101 Treatment of Late Night with the Devil, starring David...

Happy Easter!  And welcome Horror 101 fans to our 144th show.   A year after Romero's epic Dawn of the Dead took the Horror world by storm Italy answered with their own take on the undead subgenre, made for the International market.  This would be Lucio Fulci's first entry in an array of graphic Euro-Splatter features made for English audiences which would crown him the Godfather of Italian Splatter.  With unforgettable sequences and gore which is as graphic as it is ridiculous we are...

Welcome to our first show of 2024!  We're hoping that you're in the mood for some European 80s sleaze cause that is whats on the docket for this podcast.  Gratuitous nudity.  Horrible dubbing.  Extreme violence and bad acting all wrapped up in a package of camp from a Spanish director.  They cannot make films like this anymore.  We had a lot of fun picking this feature apart and we hope you enjoy as well as we give the Horror 101 treatment to Juan Piquer Simón's Pieces.  Its EXACTLY what you...

We saw this Friday the 13th in October coming a mile a way and ever since January my crew knew exactly what we were going to cover for this month.   Every horror fan has their favourite Friday the 13th film and God knows there's a lot to choose from.  With masterful photography, great direction, an interesting, well written cast.  The best stuntman playing Jason this side of Kane Hodder and graphic Tom Savini gore we're going to argue that Part 4 should be at the top of everyone's list.  We...

Welcome to our 137th show!  In the late 90s a young Paul W.S. Anderson directed a fantastic cast in a Horror/Sci Fi that's main goal was to give you a haunted house in space film.  Test Audiences hated it.  Half an hour was cut from it.  The negative has been neglected and destroyed and although it was a commercial failure this film has since gathered a huge following in the horror community.  Its been a long time since our crew had extremely varied opinions on a title.  We hope you enjoy as...

We hope you're feeling Nasty today cause thats exactly what we're covering.  A slasher gore piece from 1981 that was on the UK's Video Nasty list.  Of all the films is the 80s that tried to copy the Friday the 13th formula with a brutal killer in the woods this movie is one of the noteworthy ones.  It has an impressive synth score from Richard Wakeman of Yes.  Tom Savini does the horror effects and this was Bob and Harvey Weinstein's first film for their label Miramax.  The now disgraced...

Welcome to our 132nd Episode!  This was recorded on St. Patty's Day.  No, we're not covering Leprechaun.  We did entertain the idea of covering an Irish themed horror but ultimately went with a film from 2016.  Its quick, its tight.  Its a decent shocker.  Its a solid supernatural story that seems familiar but repacked well.  Its claustrophobic and has an excellent cast and for these reasons we're giving the Horror 101 treatment to André Øvredal's The Autopsy of Jane Doe.Show Highlights:01:00...
