Those long drawn out story line interview style commercials. Just not worth the mental health to listen to all the ad breaks
mjname via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/12/24
Really interesting story. Good research. Just made average as it’s padded out so heavily by repeatedly telling the listener every five minutes that you are listening to the podcast and then giving a recap of the previous 5 minutes.

It's just all advertisements and not much content. I'm realizing now Pushkin isn't about story it's about pushing as many ads as possible until I break down. Well you broke me, I'm not lsiteing anymore.Read full review »

Very interesting podcast. Well worth a listen. Think there are business lessons for all here no matter the industry

Season 1 was excellent. Season 2 failed to engage. Narrative was off and sometimes defied credulity. Too much acting

The series takes you on an illuminating journey with ever increasing stakes.

Amazing podcast! The narrator, the storytelling was chefs kiss! Can’t stop recommending it to everyone 🙌🏼
RK2900 via Apple Podcasts · Belgium · 02/05/24
The topic is extremely interesting and captivating. But, it jumps around different unrelated podcasts and it’s difficult to keep track of the content. The narrator needs to listen to his podcasts and keep it on topic. These are good, but muddled!

Great collection of ads but gets constantly bogged down by these small investigation spots in every episode.
Alba Varden via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/29/24
A good investigation, well told, but it’s a 90-minute story stretched and padded to make eight under-30 min eps — with terrible gaps in the narrative due to issues with the ads stopping minutes into the next narrative, dropping all the key facts — it just re-starts mid-sentence. Maybe they’ve...Read full review »

You listen to the podcast you want to listen to for 30mins and then it plays a different podcast for another 30mins! And says it’s the same podcast Very frustrating I don’t want to listen to podcasts I didn’t select!! With this I won’t be listening to the rest of them!! I’m listening about...Read full review »

I can’t take the digital background sound effects. They don’t add to the story. It’s not like traffic sounds during an interview, it just annoying digital sounds that distract from the storytelling. Had to stop listening.

Absolutely amazing show, engaging, interesting and has me glued to my headphones, almost a real life Breaking Bad at times.

Won’t play plus A TON OF ADS
StillWater1 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/20/24
Great podcast super fascinating, but it can be hard to follow, because the podcast will only run 15 mins then they will give you a sneak peak of another podcast for 45 mins. Beyond that there is a ridiculous amount of ads. Once I finish this podcast, it will probably be my last Pushkin pod,...Read full review »

Absolutely loved this. The way that the story is told and the show is produced really adds to the narrative. Definitely a big fan. Binged the whole thing in one day.

Half of each episode is given over to an overrated musician. I couldn’t believe it when they started to play the podcast of him talking…….how incredibly stupid to force a topic on your listeners that aren’t in the slightest interested in some pop artist from the 60s……!!!! I had to forward that...Read full review »

I like the show but sometimes like in Episode 2, the sound effects are way too loud, overpowering the speaker.

While i have enjoyed the first season of this podcast, season 2 surprised me with an investigation of the murder of an MEK TERRORIST on Dutch soil. Mohammad-Reza Kolahi was responsible for an explosion that killed 70 persons in Iran. The narrator acknowledges the man was a TERRORIST, and then...Read full review »

I like the topics a lot and will probably finish listening to the second season. Probably, not definitely because there is way too much ad time in each episode. And now there’s a 3 min ad formatted like an interview that sounds like it’s part of the podcast. This ruins an otherwise good show
BKPslope via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/29/23
Great podcast overall, and really well researched + produced. The only thing I found odd was the hosts criticism at the end. It seemed misguided, and offered no chance for those he was criticizing to respond.

Others have already lamented the repetitive ads. But on the episode “ties with Tehran”, your editing was sooo sloppy I got a headache and had to put it down. The beginning of every other sentence was cut off so you barely know what they’re talking about! Seriously, hire a new editor. This was an...Read full review »

Great investigative journalism & plot clarity but was throughout a little irritated that Miles makes it more about Miles & his job & life rather than a good IJ podcast.

Maybe 30% of this thing is commercials? Loud, obnoxious ones every ten minutes or so. Barely listenable.

Seriously - over 5 mins of ads for a short episode? I get you gotta make money, but sheesh. This whole series could be 3 episodes.

Borderline abusive to the listener with the amount of ads they cram into a half hour. Besides that, great show.
VTREIGN via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/13/23
Surprisingly sensationalist and a little breathlessly in awe of its criminal subjects due, I suppose, to their wealth. Was “Riches beyond his wildest dreams,” necessary? Has constant background music, as if the narrative cannot exist on its own merits.

This series is so interesting, especially if you are interested in how the financial sector impacts our lives - in ways that you would never think about. It’s very revealing- even if porn isn’t your thing.

Traditionally horrendously exploited by pimps and pornographers who collected over 97% of the takings, adult performers have been literally created and controlled by human monsters throughout history.
