Open, honest and so engaging
A really open, genuinely personal discussion is not an easy task when talking to people with a public profile - there are too many opportunities to end up being a puff piece as part of whatever the interviewee is trying to sell, so I came to this series fearing this could be just that. Elizabeth is such an easy conversationalist, though, I needn’t have worried; the series is a really engaging and, in places, emotional as she and (most of) her guests share what can be some difficult moments in their lives, and draw out insights and (yes) wisdom from these moments. Sebastian Faulks proved elusive, with a frustrating inability to own up to any notable personal failures, but the guests’ stories gave me a much deeper understanding of them, which is what every broadcast conversation should strive for - a genuine connection. The two episodes with Dolly Alperton, though, are Podcast classics. I could listen to them talk for days. This is a great series and there will, hopefully, be more. I also now buy Moorish, which demonstrates the positive power of advertising!

More reviews of How To Fail With Elizabeth Day
A fascinating conversation between friends and peers. Great concept to flip failure from negative to positive. Phoebe is warm and captivating and Elizabeth’s way of questioning probing without imposing. Subscribed!
