Gets some things wrong
I hate to ding Trevor for taking the time to try to help his follow budding engineers. But after listening to several of these podcasts, it's clear that some of what he says is not accurate. An example is in the Java interview questions episode, where he discusses Singletons. Calendar is not a Singleton, as he claims; it would be a thread-related disaster if it was! And by no means is any class that has a getInstance() method, but no constructors, a Singleton. Even the discussion about why the Singleton pattern exists was off-base; it doesn't have anything to do with whether a class is big or will take a long time to instantiate. Other times, Trevor adds comments prefaced with "I think..." which sometimes seem to come out of thin air. Again, it's great that Trevor is taking the time to help Java newbies learn the language, but I'd be remiss to not warn listeners to take some of what they hear with a grain of salt.Read full review »

I really enjoy listening to your podcast. As someone who has been developing Java Web Apps for many years I still really enjoy the podcasts that go over the basics of the language. It is great to rehash it all while I ride my bike to/from work everyday. Thanks
