Really wanted to like this, but...
This show has some great climate people working on it but... I’m not sure who the audience is. It hits the worst sort of middle ground between too wonky for lay people and too dumbed down and out of date for anyone who knows anything at all about climate. The worst part about the first episode, though, was the bizarre glossing over of the impacts of natural gas. Why?Either the team knows natgas is bad but didn’t want to complicate things and confuse listeners, OR they don’t think it’s that bad... either way, weird! Also, and this is maybe a little inside baseball, if you’re going to have a Sierra Club spokesperson be a major part of your episode, and your big takeaway is “join the Beyond Coal campaign,” you cannot ALSO act like natural gas is no big deal when it comes to climate change. Google Sierra Club Chesapeake—and then Beyond Coal, Mike Bloomberg and natural gas. It’s way past time for Sierra Club to apologize to the world for helping to craft the hugely problematic “bridge fuel” narrative about natural gas. Finally... nothing at all about the waste at the closed Somerset plant that’s still poisoning people?! Simple is great. But if you’re sacrificing accuracy on the altar of simplicity you shouldn’t be making a climate show.
