How screwed are we?
How do we (humans) save the planet? That is a question I’ve struggled to answer my entire life. My entire life I was told if you just recycle enough, plant enough trees, use less gas, buy the right products everything will be okay. I’m 30 years old now, studying ecosystem management in Ontario and everything is not okay. In my lifetime I have seen species go extinct, storms destroy countries, mountains of garbage. I have also seen the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, oceans, prairies and forests in Canada and a few other countries. How screwed are we? How greedy are corporations in North America and abroad? How short sighted is every person that thinks we are not nature, we are above it, separate from it? We are not separate. Everything is connected, we all live downstream, we all breath oxygen. Action is needed now and urgently. I weep for the past as much as I weep for the future but I cannot give up hope.

This is such an educational, helpful, and somehow hopeful and also honest look at the state or our planet and the efforts and challenges we face as we try to protect what remains. I would recommend this to absolutely anyone.
