“I had really enjoyed my first few episodes of this podcast, but was completely taken aback by the extreme stance on the most recent events in Israel. I get that the Middle East is a complicated and nuanced place, but the way it was framed by Claire McCaskill was so extreme that I literally deleted it on the spot. Yes, the attack by Hamas on Israel was horrific. But how many innocent civilian Palestinian lives does that justify being taken? Half of the entire population of Palestine is under the age of 18. So how can the former senator justify the unbelievably brutal and endless bombing campaign that Israel is currently undertaking? The mainstream media continues to frame aid for Israel as “assisting in its defense”. Israel is the colonial apartheid power in this relationship. All their citizens have universal healthcare, unlike American citizens. If their extremist right wing leader, Netanyahu, feels they need to annihilate millions of civilians, let them pay for it themselves. It has been reported that more than a few Biden aides advised him to take a more moderate stance. He declined, and now Palestinian civilians, many women and children, are paying the price. And the costs are only going to get worse, as Netanyahu is sure to take Biden’s full-throated pledge of support as a reason to try to wipe every trace of Palestine and Palestinians off the map. It is simply shameful.”
