“Whilst this is a fascinating story, to hear that ‘Conversion Disorder’ and ‘Hysteria’ are still being used by the podcast host to describe what is a complex and highly debilitating illness now recognised as Functional Neurological Disorder is very disappointing. A simple google search for ‘conversion disorder’ would have given the creator up-to-date information. Instead, outdated views and misinformation being shared with millions of listeners reinforces dangerous beliefs that people who suffer from FND are malingering and diminishes the experiences of the thousands of people and their carers who suffer from this neurological condition.”
