“…crazy for many people, so it comes as no surprise that the dx of conversion reaction was rejected by the sufferers , the community and their parents. The last thing a parent wants to be accused of is having driven their kid crazy and be blamed for it which , for decades, was psychology’s often misguided position. I would have liked to have asked those people something along the lines of well, let’s speculate for a moment and let’s say, hypothetically speaking, the dx is actually a conversion reaction. If that were the case, would you think about yourself differently? If so, how? Would others think of you differently? If so, how? And so on . Often times approaching an issue from a speculative point of view will soften a person’s defensiveness. And a shout out to Rose. Rose, I salute you! You’re a total up!”
