Fear is a motivator
As a new mom in the early 90s JD’s Strong willed child was often recommended by pediatricians and educators. The fear of having a difficult child was rapid. I grew up in the 70s and 80s with great parents but parents who were not overly involved in anything. No structured activities. No tutoring. No freaking out. The idea that ‘you will be fine ‘ ruled. Somewhere between my childhood and my kids a fear appeared. This podcast does a great job of explaining this shift to fear. A fear based in control. Great great listen for parents, families and humans.
