“Definitely A MUST!! Immediately captivating- & I do mean IMMEDIATELY. This is truly unlike any other podcast I’ve ever heard. EXCELLENTLY PRODUCED. Utterly compelling.. Talk about the most deeply personal exploration of her hauntingly dark family tragedy/tragedies, while at the same time delving into sociological, racial, cultural realizations, disparities & so much more...While at the same time this podcast does not go into what some people would simply dismiss as derivative — Instead, we find her bravely, facing her pain, & being utterly truthful & honest about the generational & familial pain — addiction, abandonment & more — those achingly agonizing issues which are familiar to so many of us, (each in differing ways, obviously). Yet still, in this podcast, she never once devolves into a simplistic, reductive “poor me” attitude, & therefore that attribute makes listening to these episodes extremely even more extraordinary & COMPELLING. Her fortitude & talent take her family’s tragic crime into a podcast so rare, SO Exceptionally well-told.…& … (Please forgive me here- because I know that my inadequate redundant usage of the word “crime” diminishes its impact, its importance, because the ramifications of ‘true crime’ are so much greater than what we have been unfortunately habituated to think about when we usually hear the word “crime”.) .. I’m intrigued by imperfect victims - because no-one is “perfect”.. & the even more marginalized “imperfect” deserve to have their stories told - and told well. Which this is! Because she has strength, resilience, courage, achievement & intelligence. PLUS the pacing, the writing, the sound design - it is so well-produced. This podcast is incredibly immersive. It’s excellent! …
(I first thought, “Ok, I’ll just quickly ‘check it out’ since it was recommended by Justin & Aaron of “Generation Why”, both of whom I respect highly enough to subscribe to via Patreon. But- Honestly? I had no idea I would be so immediately DEEPLY ENGROSSED & - here’s the thing… I’ve been up ALL NIGHT LONG & I rarely write reviews.. I can’t recommend this highly enough! PLUS what gets me is that I hate that these awful things happen to people, human beings… We need her father’s murder solved!!”
