Superbly unique and well crafted podcast told from the rare perspective of a family member of a victim. This is an important and eye-opening first person insight into why so many cases like JC’s continue to go unsolved - small town authorities and dynamics, the victim’s high risk lifestyle, and...Read full review »

If you make it through this genuinely intriguing story, you’ll have been worn down by nine episodes of repetitive snippets, repetitive conjecture and eye rolling simplicity. The emotionless delivery only adds to the feeling that this is a quick cash grab, as opposed to genuine reporting or...Read full review »

I had to keep checking I wasn’t listening an episode I’d listened to before there were so many repeats of interviews and the author’s own words. I don’t enjoy the author’s delusions about the legacy of crime her father’s enormous family were involved in.

You've got this! No family should have to go through what you have/are to get answers, and hopefully justice. I can't wait to see where Season 3 takes you.Read full review »

Madison, your podcast really resonated with me, especially as someone who lives in Ohio as well. I admire your strength and determination. I hope one day you’re able to find closure and answers. Sending you love and peace. 🤍🫶🏻

This was such a good podcast at first. It really pulled me in and I was so interested. As the episodes continued it became very repetitive and there was no new information shared, I could not tell where or if the story was leading up to anything. Overall you really only need to listen to the...Read full review »

Madison, I was led here by an interview you had with Payne Lindsay. I hear you and I am with you. I am so sorry for your loss and for the lack of support from your family in solving this case. I’m experiencing a similar situation in my family regarding a newborn being exposed to fentanyl. I...Read full review »

I tend to agree with OkieArkansas with one exception. A lot of material is regurgitated in every episode. My advice is to condense. I stopped listening due to limited new story info in subsequent episodes. I’ll most likely start again in future. Good luck.

Podcaster makes far too many assumptions and uses woke ideology to make her story fit a false narrative.
scarborm via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/05/24
The first half of this podcast was very compelling but since then I feel like it could all be maybe two episodes. The narrator is repeating and repeating and repeating herself with no additional evidence discussed and it is incredibly annoying and frustrating. The same points are made over and...Read full review »

While I understand from a family standpoint where the host is coming from, she doesn’t seem to truly understand our justice system. It’s not up to a potential person of interest to prove they didn’t do it. It’s up to the police to prove a suspect is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt....Read full review »

Good show but honestly the volume is awful. Some parts are so quiet and then after turning it up so loud!!

I’m new to this specific podcast & host. I became instantly hooked! She has a great voice for the listeners. She tells her story in such a good way for the ppl who don’t know. I love her Titles for each episode & how it connects so well by the end of it. Love her! 10/10 recommend. 💜

This show is really good and I think you’re amazing but I’m begging you (Begging. You.) to get someone to even out the sound. This podcast is heartbreaking on so many levels. Madison is NOT a professional podcaster and this is not a podcast made for entertainment purposes. I found this podcast while traveling on vacation. I cannot fathom my father being murdered and then trying to solve it myself. The emotional toll and struggle this must take is beyond my understanding. I am praying for closure for you. Thank you for opening up your life for us to listen to.

Starts off really good but then there is so much repetition of thoughts, facts and ideas. The whole podcast could have been condensed into 5 or 6 episodes.

15 episodes that repeat 3 or 4 facts over and o er and over and over. Listen to the last episodes if you’re interested enough. Madison, this podcast has me hooked. I am so sorry that you went through this tragedy. Your dad would be so proud of you. You tell this story perfectly. I really hope when this podcast is done you continue to do more cold cases, because you do such a fabulous job. Thanks for sharing your story.

…the repetitiveness; the sllllooooowww, “dramatic” phrasing; the declarations of “tell what you know before I find out for myself!” Find out yourself already. Enough with 18 episode to say, “I don’t know and nobody will tell me.” Moving on to something else.

Interesting story. Could be consolidated into 3 episodes…very repetitive, lots of unnecessary narrative. When you finally realize this, you’re committed though.

The story is pretty straightforward and could have been told in 6-8 episodes. I’m afraid to say the victim, JC McGhee, the host’s father, doesn’t get much sympathy from me. A father of 6 children with 4 different women, he was also a drug dealer, an addict, a police informant and a brothel owner...Read full review »

Basically, a lot of white girl overdramatising of an otherwise interesting brown girl story. This could have been cut down by two thirds and been much better as a story. I wish the author well.

Host has a unique opportunity for a unsolved mystery unfortunately her story is not really that interesting. The podcast is just a really long drawn out repeating story.

Interesting storytelling (mostly) and a very tragic situation that I feel so much for the host. So much of this narrative could have been condensed and it felt too meandering in every single episode. The subject of this case is a man of the streets with significant ties to drugs, crime, and shady people—in a small town. It’s really not surprising this happened, and it’s definitely not because of racial biases as the host wants you to believe.

What a horrific experience you’ve went through, I mean that wholeheartedly. Spend more time exploring facts and less time complaining about society because it’s of the times. Yet another podcast that starts off fine and takes an absolute woke turn. Had to turn off.

Def a tough upbringing. Glad she’s trying to get some closure, but her dad lived in the streets. Turned on his own, was a womanizer. This isn’t a new story.

Your story was compelling;however, the podcast took on a repetitive whiny tone. Constant reminders of the cops botching the case, evidence lost, how you’ll “never know what actually happened”, etc. Omg that got old! And the constant use of “my dad” over and over and over!
