Interesting story made boring
This should be really interesting about why a 16 year old girl ran away from a stable background to join Isis. Instead of that why we get hours and hours of how. Not even the interesting how (like how they duped their family and friends) but literally how they did it in terms of transport. Plot spoiler: it’s by plane, bus and taxi. The host retraces their journey for reasons that aren’t really obvious or interesting. I get that for him running around pretending to be James Bond is an probably fascinating but for the listerer it’s just a lot of “look there is the taxi she took, let’s speak to the driver”. Who unsurprisingly doesn’t want to speak to them. Talk about the why, not the how. Clearly not a Simon Sinek fan!

Lots of investigative podcasts are full of conjecture and personal opinions of the host...not this one! Such a great listen each week, glad Frontline Dispatch profiled it.
