Laughing on the Subway
I'll be honest, when I first heard that Idle Thumbs gamers were going to be splitting off to do a new, non-game oriented podcast, I was skeptical. And honestly, my skepticism was well placed as admittedly I didn't really enjoy the first two episodes of this podcast the same way I'd come to love the Idle Thumbs cast. Idle thumbs gave me such a great perspective on games from a developer perspective and stepped away from the wide-spread, games media take on gaming podcasts. It was refreshing. So now this offshoot podcast with some of my favorite podcast personalities comes along and it didn't hit for me. But then as episodes went on, I realized something: these guys build relationships with their listeners over time. The reason i loved Idle Thumbs was because of all the little innuendos and inside jokes about the way each of them approached gaming. So by the time episode 4 comes around they've already included the listener in a bizarre universe where cockroaches have spawned a driverless car revolution and dreams are now self-produced hellscapes where repetitive actions become the cadence of the intro to a Pink Floyd song! The strange and niche humor of Each and every one of these episodes builds on itself in an almost narrative way so much so that eventually you really truly do feel included in the fun these guys are having with each other. Being a bit of a lonely commuter here I'm Mew York City where hours of my day is spent on the Subway, these delightful ramblings have me literally laughing out loud in ways one shouldn't be while traveling on public trains. After weeks spent listening to these guys I often get hesitant to indulge in an episode unless my Subway car is almost empty. I wanna say thanks for the happiness in this twisted year that is 2017... this is a phenomenal podcast for the futurist, internet explorer who enjoys humor, modern perplexities and the ever evolving human experience. Five stars!Read full review »

I honestly haven't laughed as hard I did listening to episode 14. Like, full on cry laughing alone in my apartment while my dog looks on confused.Read full review »

I love the Idle Thumbs podcast and really like the guys here who create it, so I was really interested in what a podcast minus videogames would be like. Now, as someone who would drift off a little when they started talking about robots in the Idle Thumbs podcast, I was really dissapointed to...Read full review »

Veteran podcasters, a mixture of erudite observation and infectious, silly humor. All the good stuff from the classic Thumbs, just with a new setting!
