Good but tries too much
The podcast is mostly good with the episodes that focus on Cambodia going into wonderfully great detail about Khmer culture and history. However, the author goes beyond the outcry of his initial objective by spending entire episodes (read: hours) on subjects that can really be covered in a maximum of 15 minutes in how they relate to the podcast. These include two hours on the French Enlightenment and what seems to be nearly 3 hours on the development of the communist ideology. Less should be more in this case, but the author doesn’t seem to get that and bites off more than he can chew.

A tragic period in human history. This podcast gives it the depth and background the subject deserves.
