I can't do it anymore...
I ride my bike for two hours a day and I need a lot of listening material. So, naturally, I was happy to find this podcast. However... They do something nobody else can do - make scientists sound interesting. As a person who finds science and technology intriguing, I realize now that that's not enough to produce a podcast. The hosts are full of hum's, hah's, and um's... It's almost as if they don't even write their questions down. But even when they manage to get a conversation going, it is usually so dry it is only interesting to junior high school science teachers. They claim to understand society, science, and politics in order to explain it us. However, ALL of their research material is liberally based, so what they think they know has never been challenged. This is no way to have a well rounded understanding. Even if you manage to stay awake all the way through, you will notice that many controversial points are simply accepted - and for the purpose of this review I will give them global warning, but they offer "intuition" as a scientific fact. I don't know how the economic podcasts like Freakonomics and Planet Money manage to take what I consider a much more boring topic and make it fascinating, but these guys should learn from them. I just can't do it anymore. This podcast is for a much hardier nerd then me.Read full review »

I really love this podcast. It's a wonderful way to start the day off right by getting my brain buzzing with interesting questions and info. Indre Viskontas is a wonderful role model - very inspiring for young women in science. Keep up the great podcast! Also, congrats to Indre on her new baby!Read full review »

I'm really enjoying this new format with Mooney and Viskontas: some discussion a science-informed angle of current events or hot topics, plus a long-form interview, in each episode. Keep the thoughtful interviews coming!Read full review »
