Reviews
Recently discovered the podcast and have started binged listening and hoping to catch the series on TV. Honestly don’t understand the negative reviews. Such interesting material being covered.

I feel like the same person wrote multiple reviews because I’m just not hearing the vocal fry that bad at all. Is that just what we say about podcasters now when we don’t have anything else to say? 🙄

Considering the weight of the subject matter, I was expecting a professional presentation. Instead, it comes across like a bunch of valley girls who just like, totally discus crime, omg. It’s massively difficult to listen to, and I didn’t listen long.

It’s just soooo boring.

I think the podcast needs to tell people what the podcast is about at the beginning. Agree with the vocal fry. Also, way too many commercials.

Please don’t talk so much about the Order and more about the cases

How can you be completely unaware or uninformed of how you sound on an audio format??

Like someone else said, the participants are very self congratulatory. I’m not interested in how and why they study crime. I’m interested in them sharing what they have learned, and that is very much lacking.

This podcast was in my 20/20 feed so I started listening from there. The episode started in the middle of a conversation between two women discussing “episode 1.” Thinking I’d missed something, I searched the name of the podcast and played directly from there. Same thing. More than 4 minutes of...Read full review »

I am irrationally angry when I am listening to this due to the Kim Kardashian vocal fry and valley girl. Uggghh!!
missysteph21 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/18/24
It’s just so self-congratulatory, but without any interesting case info. Also the narrator is very weird and I feel like the way it is edited leads you all over the place. Nothing new here. Two episodes down and I don’t think I’ll listen to more. Someone also mentioned the valley-girl diction...Read full review »

Nancy Swartzman’s voice is so annoying to listen to that it puts you off listening. “Murder” becomes “murrdererr”. She drags out her “r”s and “s”s and other sounds - particularly at the end of a phrase or sentence. She should take elocution lessons.

The work done by the Midnight Order is incredible. It is so important to the families of missing and murdered Canadians to get answers. Using the technology of data science to get a sense of the bigger picture and make connections is brilliant.

The presenters voices are very annoying and agree that they sound very “Valley girl..” The title sounds interesting but I can’t continue.

After listening to the first episode, I guarantee the following themes will be part of every future episode: Law enforcement is racist/sexist/incompetent; If women/minorities commit crimes it’s only due to systemic racism/sexism and they had no alternative - or law enforcement was biased and...Read full review »

The hosts were just so nasally and slow in how they spoke that the story became unbearable.

I wanted to like it but the vocal fry and vocal inflection sounded intolerable to my ears.
Dawnlandia via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/12/24
I’m excited for this podcast! However, the amount of vocal frying and uptalk makes it sound like a valley girl attempting to read a script.
