“It took a little while, but this show has got me hooked. Fin is a dramatic speaker - very easy to listen to. The show goes through Irish political history, blow-by-blow, with occasional forays into cultural history, such as the importance of the potato or the experiences of a young prostitute. While some of the early episodes suffered from some bizarre musical choices (e.g. 1920s swing music in the midst of a medieval narrative!), the show soon found its footing. Some of the commentary at times seems a bit facile as well, such as commenting that the medieval Irish didn't have cell phones, or that Vikings must have been scary - but overall the show is extremely well-researched and deserves a full five stars.”Read full review »
