I believe that when a tree falls...
If you've ever been a dedicated fan of an artist that the world has yet to discover (Scott Miller's bands Game Theory/Loud Family, anybody?), this story may very well be for you. A nice coincidence (?) that it debuts with another Night Vale Presents podcast, I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats, which is also about (at least in part) what it means to be a fan. Jacquelyn Landgraf's voice is just right: warm, enthusiastic, and with perfect conviction. Will we ever hear any of the songs? Do they, and the artist, really exist? I have to start by saying I am an enthusiastic fan of Welcome to Nightvale. And I enjoy Alice Isn’t Dead. But this is just not good. It isn’t entertaining and it isn’t anywhere near as highly produced as their other podcasts.

I love this podcast so far. The tension is built by a host that might just be crazy and is walking some nightmare precipice of positivity that has to end badly. The second voice's more traditional scary weirdness is actually a break from the building suspense.Read full review »
