Not slow, subtle. And beautiful. And inspiring.
I went into this cold. All I knew was that it was under the same banner as Welcome to Nightvale. The first episode left me wondering: was this going to be some metaphysical ghost story? Was it going to be cringe comedy about ancient obsessions? Nope, and nope. The first episodes aren't slow, they're subtle. They're the beginning of a gradually flowering story about memory, music, and identity told with delicacy and nuance. The big and obvious gestures and emotions come from a deeper, more reflective place that becomes clear as the series goes on. The arc of this story has more than once left me with tears on my face. And more importantly, it's made me think hard about memory, nostalgia, and my own obessions, and how those things define who and what I am. Inspiring is a word that's too plain, too bald to use here, but it’s the only one that fits.Read full review »

So whimsical and sad, I’m really enjoying it so far! Y’all should totally make a cassette tape of the songs sung by Mom, Deirdre, Rod and Cody. I would buy it.

It Makes A Sound is another intriguing podcast from Night Vale Presents that manages to be both nostalgic and sinister. One episode in, and it is already engaging and mysterious. What is happening in the attic?
