“During the pandemic, the highlight of my week was listening to each new episode of the It's Super Effectice Podcast. Steve is extremely knowledgeable, I love the different personalities, and production quality is impeccable. However, I find the recent episodes have started to lose touch with the pokemon community. I am all for thoughtful criticism of the pokemon company, but lately, it seems like every bit of news is met with sarcasm and unnecessary negativity (except when they talk about Pokemon Sleep). Even small positive items, like pokemon sleep awarding free item is met with an immediately negative and snarky comparison with Niantic and pokemon go.
The final straw for me was when they invited Will back a few months ago as guest. It's obvious that Will had moved on and is no longer invested in the franchise (which is perfectly okay, we all grow and change and in our preferences), so I don't understand why Steve felt it was a good idea to invite someone on to trash everything Pokemon to a group of audience that values Pokemon enough to go out of their way to find a Pokemon Podcast to listen to.
I still find Steve very knowledgeable and committed to the franchise, but it seems like the others around him are losing interest (except pokemon sleep, apparently). I just hope the hosts realize that if we are seeking out a Pokemon Podcast, then we are big enough fans to want to find others to discuss and share in our enthusiasm. I'm not suggesting you should blindly praise and provide toxic positivity, just maybe tone down on the snarkiness and the unreasonable criticism, because at this point, the podcast is becoming insulting to pokemon fans.”Read full review »
“I just wanted to write you guys, and say that you have one of the best show there is for Pokemon. I'm 28 years old, and I am a big Pokemon Nerd, and your show make me love Pokemon even more. Steve, you and your cast do a great and funny job.
Thank you”Read full review »
