“I'm listening to Joel Osteen for the first time and there is something that rubs me the wrong way about his message. He seems to preach a self-focused gospel instead of a Christ-centered Gospel. The Gospel is not 'Jesus and what he can do for you' but 'Jesus Christ and Him crucified.' Here is just one specific example of something I didn't like: Quote from Osteen: "As long as you're rejecting yourself, you will never be happy" (#321 10:01) Quote from Jesus: "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." (Luke 9:23 ESV) Osteen is a talented motivational speaker but I am hesitant to say he's a faithful preacher of the Gospel found in Scripture.”Read full review »
