I agree that it is obvious Mr. Osteen has a heart of gold and has the best intentions. The prosperity gospel, however, makes me cringe. How can he say that if you go to church, even if you don't feel like it, that your children and your children's children are magically going to be prosperous. What incredible oversimplifications of the way. I refer listeners who struggle with anger from religious people to the Mosaic podcast from Erwin McManus. It's nice to see that Mr. Osteen is so full of love, but saying that your life and your childrens' lives are magically going to be easy when you become a christian is not true at all. If anything, life becomes more challenging. If the prosperity gospel is true, how come so many christians are poor. I've seen people with the deepest faith I've ever come in contact with in the slums of the Dominican Republic. Mr. Osteen's prosperity makes me ashamed to be under the same umbrella of christianity. In 47 years of going to church, I always thaought it was the Christians that need to be saved from themselves. Joel just tells them how.
