The controversy cries out that Joel teaches the truth of Jesus

“In reading a number of the reviews about Joel Osteen's messages I have come to the conclusion that in some ways both sides have their points and are right. On the other hand, the controversy tells me that Joel is reaching out to us with the word of God, and preaching Christ centered messages. After all in His day, Jesus was not viewed as the Savior Israel was waiting for, in His own time most people did not see Him as God, yet God He was in come to earth as Man to offer Himself as the greatest sacrafice in our place, for our sins.
Is there any one particular way to preach the Word of God that is incorrect? Yes, but not as long as it is a Bible based message from God. Joel teaches that which I most identify with and beleive about my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I don't focus on what Joel says we should do, but on what God says we should do, through Joel. He may not be Billy Graham, he doesn't need to be. Jesus said the only way to the Father is through Him (Jesus). I believe that Joel preaches that, but in unique way that reaches out to people for God, not for Joel.
A lot of what Joel preaches sounds a whole lot easier that it really is. It is not easy to live the Christian life the way Joels preaches. It is certainly not easy to live life the way Christ teaches us live. I know that Joel has me reaching for a closer relationship with God. Yearning for a closer personal relationship with Jesus, to be more like Jesus, and treat people the way Jesus would treat them. Sounds pretty Christian and Bible based to me, but with a smile, not a frown.

Having read (listened to) his book and meet him, I can't wait to be able to take it to...”Read full review »

“This is not just my opinion. The fact is he barely uses the Bible at all when he preaches! If he is not getting his information from the Bible where is he getting it? Whether you are a christian or not you must agree that a pastor should get his truth from the Bible. Otherwise he would just be a...”Read full review »
