David believed in God’s worldwide sovereignty. He was not just king over Israel. He was king over the world and David envisioned a time when all nations of the world will assemble before God the King.

Today we find ourselves in Psalm 4, another psalm of David and another psalm where he experienced difficulties because of his enemies. If you remember, in our previous messages, we talked about Psalm 3 and the foes David faced and the lies they were telling to David or about David. In Psalm 4 we are going to find something similar but we will see new responses that David has toward his enemies and new truths about God. These are truths all of us must know and can apply.

We are studying Psalm 3, a psalm written by David when the nation erupted into civil war because of the rebellion of his son Absalom. We learned that David’s enemies were many, they organized and they came against him with a pack of lies. What were these lies? They were ones we face today!

After Jacob stole the blessing from Esau, Esau vowed to kill his brother. Jacob fled and was away for 20 years. Then, he returned and had to face who brother who approached him with 400 men. Would Esau exact revenge, or would God's grace win the day?

It was wrong for Esau to sell his birthright for a meal, and we can question why Jacob would manipulate his brother in that situation, but when it comes to the blessing, the sin is obvious for all - Jacob lied to his father's face and stole the blessing. But when Esau learned that the blessing was gone, he asked for a blessing also. Did Isaac bless his son Esau, after all?
