The BEST parenting podcast
I have been listening to your podcast, Casey, for many months now - and wanted to tell you how much I LOVE it. I am sixty-eight years old and am a parent educator who was trained in the positive discipline "philosophy" in the mid 80's. You are expertly providing a clear parenting destination with a path that is full of encouragement, information, support, humor and, most importantly, the “why”. My husband and I had "the courage to be the imperfect" parents of three - now adult - kids who we raised following the Positive Discipline model ~ which you now so masterfully teach. I took my first parenting class when our first two kids were three and one - and I was hooked . I can tell your listeners that the positive discipline training was the best thing we ever did as parents ! I still tell young parents that all the time. We had our moments - and we didn't do it perfectly - but we had great relationships with our kids all the way through ( and still do...) and can honestly say we really enjoyed the middle school and teen years :-). Our kids often remarked about the fact that our family operated differently than almost all of their friends' families - and they were - and still are - grateful for that. We feel so blessed that we have three caring, connected, confident, courageous and contributing (big) kids. All of them use their "naturally occurring" positive discipline way-of-being in their relationships and in their work (music therapist, high school science teacher and LCSW). Two of them are PD parents themselves now. Our youngest ( at 31) led me to YOU and Joyful Courage. But the supreme icing on the cake is that I get to take care of our granddaughter, now three years old, while while mom and dad are at work. So now I am beyond blessed to get to be the positive discipline Grammie, partnering with the positive discipline mommy and daddy, in raising the next generation. This is what you and your listeners have to look forward to. Sooooo.....this was a very long-winded way of saying thank you so much for what you are doing . Your knowledge of and groundedness in Positive Discipline, passion for it, honesty, warmth and expert interviewing skills shine through every podcast. I am here to tell your listeners / followers that positive discipline absolutely works in creating a (usually !) harmonious family where all the members feel cared for, understood, valued and supported in this life-long journey of working to become our best selves ! Being a parent is, by far, the hardest job I've ever done - AND, by HUGE leaps and bounds, without a doubt, my most rewarding life's work. Gradually you are changing hearts and minds throughout the world. With a whole lot of appreciation and fondness, Casey ~ thank you !Read full review »

I’ve listened to JC for years off and on. My oldest is the age of Casey’s youngest and there have been times when I listened to some episodes repeatedly, like a meditation on letting go of control and sitting with what is. I have a closer less friction filled relationship with my kids as a result.
