Why story-telling matters!
There is such anticipation that builds from the beloved opening - once upon a time... but there is a danger to that "once". Outside of context, "once" provides a singular view - a single narrative. We are at a point where we have seemingly unlimited access to information and yet the algorithms of our social media are such that we just get multiple versions of that single narrative. The Middle East has been stuck in a Ground Hog Day-esque singular plot line that has led to subtle and more direct biases. These have heartbreakingly permeated both popular culture and the opinions of most.... Enter Kerning Cultures! Offering snip bits of the everyday, a familiar voice, an accessible routine, an alternate perspective... it is as its crux human. Story telling is among the most human of activities - this podcast offers hope that we can once more reclaim its power for good.Read full review »

More reviews of Kerning Cultures
Kerning Cultures offers a fresh perspective on the Middle East, depicting narratives ranging from music to food to art and to politics. This podcast is not afraid to discuss what is really going on in the region rather than what we only hear in the media. Definitely worth a listen!

I love the way that they tell people’s stories. It’s from a point of empathy. It’s nuanced and really well executed. Kudos to the team.
